As part of a strategic plan to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 on Quality of Life, the National Society for Sustainable Development (Talaqa), in cooperation with the National Program for promoting mental health, launched the “# My Psychology_First” campaign to localize the global sustainable development goal “3.4” to raise public awareness Psychiatric disorders and prevention of noncommunicable mental illnesses.
The “Your Psychology First” campaign aims to achieve a healthy psychological life as a fundamental pillar of Saudi Vision 2030, at a time when the incidence of mental disorders in Saudi Arabia has risen to 34%, according to the department of mental health of King Saud Medical City.
In its first phase, the partnership implemented the Certified Mental Health First Aid Practitioner Course Program from November 3-4, 2020 AD, and trained more than 50 certified practitioners from all segments of society.
The training program, the first of its kind presented in Arabic, at the Middle East level, comes with the start of the countdown to the expected summit of the leaders of the twenty countries of the city of Riyadh, which will discuss a package sustainable development issues, in addition to strengthening peoples’ global health security.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association for Sustainable Development (Talqa), Princess Abeer bint Saud bin Farhan Al Saud, said the “#MySelf_First” campaign aims to raise awareness among members of society about mental health , because mental health is almost a pandemic and is no less important than physical health. The real investment is the investment in the company.
Princess Abeer noted that Talqa, through its partnership with the National Center for Mental Health, is working to localize the Sustainable Development Goal (3.4), which focuses on mental health awareness and implementation. light psychological support mechanisms for community members, which will play a positive role on the social and economic situation in accordance with With Vision 2030 and the objectives of the Quality of Life program.
On the other hand, the director of the training program at the National Center for Mental Health, Haifa Al-Ashaiwi, said that the partnership with the Association for Sustainable Development< Talqa >> aims to achieve fruitful cooperation to raise the level of psychological culture in society as the most important goals of Saudi Vision 2030, noting that the program has since its launch in 2018. It has provided more than 107 records training in 17 cities across the Kingdom and has worked to train over 3,300 psychiatric paramedics in basic counseling skills.
For her part, the consultant for partnerships and communication of the Talqa Association, Nada Ibrahim, called on the media to unify efforts to support, encourage and highlight this type of program which has a valuable and tangible impact on the society.
It should be noted that the PSSM program for the preparation of Certified Mental Health First Aid Practitioners was launched in Australia in 1997 and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the first party in the Middle East to authorize this program, to Arabize and deliver it to the region.
