Elon Musk has confirmed that Tesla has delayed its new Roadster program until 2023, which means the new electric supercar is now three years behind its original schedule.
When the next-gen $ 200,000 Roadster was first unveiled in 2017, Musk said at the time it would hit the market in 2020.
The company began taking reservations for the electric vehicle capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 1.9 seconds with over 965 kilometers of range during the unveiling event.
People who wanted to be the first to get the car had to deposit between $ 50,000 and $ 250,000.
The auto program was then postponed, with the CEO saying it was not a priority for the company.
In 2020, Musk hinted at delaying the Roadster until 2022 as the automaker focuses on Cybertruck.
Earlier this year, the CEO confirmed that the new car would not hit the market until 2022.
