U.S. electric car maker Tesla is looking for employees for its energy trading division to support its battery and renewable energy projects, according to the company’s website and an employee posted on the LinkedIn job site .com.
The company has expanded its business to include solar power generation for homes and large battery storage facilities. I recently applied to start marketing electricity in Texas.
“I am forming a new team at Tesla focused on energy trading and market operations,” wrote Julian Lamy, who describes himself as senior software optimization engineer for Tesla, in a LinkedIn post this week.
The company plans to use a self-designed automated trading platform, called AutoBider, to “offer batteries in multiple wholesale energy markets,” according to a job description on Tesla’s website.
The company is looking to hire a senior energy analyst who will be based in Palo Alto, Calif., Lamy wrote in his LinkedIn post.
Last month, Tesla Energy Ventures applied to the Texas Public Utilities Commission to become a retail electricity supplier.
