Eating a healthy, balanced diet with regular physical activity can help extend life expectancy and protect against disease.
But you can also increase life expectancy, as well as protect yourself against the symptoms of diabetes, by following a specific diet, which is the Mediterranean diet regularly.
“Johns Hopkins Medicine” found that the world’s healthiest people follow a diet that includes the Mediterranean diet.
The diet includes eating plenty of vegetables and fruits, as well as fish, brown rice, nuts, and olive oil. She added that choosing healthy foods is one of the best ways to improve life expectancy.
Diet can also reduce the risk of developing diabetes, as well as heart disease and high cholesterol.

The study, conducted by Johns Hopkins of 6,200 men and women over eight years, said those who engaged in four smart behaviors reduced the chances of dying from any cause during that time by 80%.
The study found that the healthiest people eat a Mediterranean style diet. This means eating a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and fish, and carbohydrates made from whole grains and olive oil for cooking.
Experts also explained that a Mediterranean diet, together with regular exercise, achieving a healthy weight and not smoking, protects against early heart disease, slows the build-up of plaque in artery walls and reduces 80% risk of premature death.
The risk of premature death can also be reduced by eating more avocados, as they are believed to protect against high cholesterol and lower the risk of prostate cancer in men.
