The reality of the Arab political and social world, including the problems of asylum, violence, extremism, poverty and the liberation of women, eclipses the themes of the films participating in the 10th Beirut Film Days, which will begin in March.

The Lebanese company Beirut-Beirut is organizing the new session from March 29 to April 6 with the participation of 17 feature films and documentaries, some of which will be screened for the first time in Arab countries.

The new edition, entitled "Cinema Diversity", coincides with the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Beirut DC Association.

The opening of Syrian documentary "On Parents and Sons" by director Talal Dirki, who has been nominated for Best Documentary Oscar and has participated in many Arab and Western festivals.

The closing will be with the Egyptian film "The Day of Judgment" by Abu Bakr Shawqi, the film that participated in the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, nominated by Egypt to compete for the Best Foreign Film Oscar.

"We had funding problems this year, which forced us to reduce the number of films, without compromising the good technical value of the work involved," said Zaina Sfeir, artistic director of Beirut Film Days. "He said.

Films from Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco, Syria and Libya will participate in the Beirut Film Days, which will take place at the Metropolis Ampere Soufil Cinema, at the American University of Beirut, at Seville Cinema in Sidon and at the artist 's house in Hamana.

In the area of ​​Palestinian cinema, a series of feature films and documentaries will be presented in the "Gaza Look" section, which will be held in cooperation with the "Cooperation" Association in Lebanon.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the assassination of philosopher Rosa Luxemburg, the Beirut Film Days present the experimental film "Warda" by Ghassan Salhab.

In a spirit of loyalty to the deceased creators, a special evening will be organized in memory of Lebanese journalist and director Jocelyn Saab at Maison Al-Nimr and directed by Hadi Zakkak.
