The daily breakfast helps you protect yourself from a common illness

A new study found that skipping breakfast increases the risk of diabetes by about a third.

People who did not eat their morning meal were 33% more likely to develop type 2 diabetes, according to an analysis of about 100,000 people.

The risk is increased by 55% for those who avoid breakfast at least four times a week, compared to those who eat breakfast in the morning.

Researchers think the reason is the tendency to have snacks later in the day, apart from breakfast.

The researchers collected the results of six previous studies on the effect of diet on diabetes in 96,000 participants.

The study found that breakfast with high proportions of whole grains, with low levels of red meat and sugar, is the best in general.

"It is estimated that 30% of the world's population does not eat breakfast," said Dr. Sabrina Schlesinger of the German Diabetes Center in Düsseldorf.
