Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, said the dismantling of the Arab National State remains the most serious challenge facing the region: states and peoples must cooperate to maintain cohesion countries, maintain their security and address the threats to the region. Adding that the survival of the Palestinian cause unresolved for more than seventy years increases instability in the region and creates fertile ground for the spread of extremism.

This happened at a lecture today by Aboul Gheit at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science of the British University in Cairo, in the presence of the Faculty of Law. and elite professors and chosen deans, and at the invitation of the chairman of his board, Mohammed Farid Khamis.

Abul-Gheit examined the weaknesses of the Arab regional system from a historical point of view, highlighting the structural reasons for the emergence of the Arab League and the subsequent intensification of differences between Arabs and Arabs in the 1960s, as well as the massive impact of the defeat of 67, caused by the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

Abul-Gheit added that we should not underestimate the work of the Arab League nor question its usefulness at a time when regional threats from non-Arab countries seeking to defend their interests at the expense of the region are increasing. stressing that these countries do not want the Arabs to have an institution that reflects their common will, And this weakening of the Arab League serves the agendas of these regional powers and their attempts to dominate the region and intervene in the affairs of their countries .

During the conference, Abul-Gheit presented the challenges facing the Arab region, such as the demographic challenge that forces countries and governments to create a significant number of jobs for young people. With regard to the shortage of water, climate change and other serious problems that require closer Arab cooperation in the economic and social fields, added that innovative education based on innovation is the only way to prepare Arab societies to join this era and bridge the gap with the world Not advanced in areas related to the fourth industrial revolution and the digital economy.
