The eighth edition of the Luxor African Film Festival continued on the third day. More than one event drew audiences, critics and filmmakers. The African Film Festival held its eighth session and a symposium on the concept of Afrikaans movie at the cinema, led by festival director Azza Husseini, was chaired by the festival's honorary president, Mahmoud Hamida, the festival president Sayed Fouad and festival director Shweikar Khalif and founder Amani El Taweel, program director for Africa, Al Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, and Helmi Shaarawy, director of the Center for Research and African studies.

Festival director, Azza al-Husseini, stressed that the concept of Afrikaansism was initially a political concept and quickly reached the works of art presented in the countries of the African continent. Ms. Amani Al-Taweel began her speech by pointing out that many creators began to talk about African identity, called in Afrikaans political thought and more than a century old, divided into two parts, one internal and the other, the culture of European colonization in Africa. Al-Tawil explained that in the early nineteenth century, African identity was divided into two schools: the first contributing to the crystallization of Afrikaans in color and the second to colonization in order to preserve identity … And that's what was won in the end; until now, one is aware of the need to manage oneself.
