The National Council of Women has filed a complaint against the complaints committee of the Higher Council for Media Regulation against the Sabaya program presented by Riham Said on Al-Hayat.
The council said in a statement today that the episode in which the presenter had spoken of "obesity" had aroused the dissatisfaction of Egyptian women and contained inappropriate words and descriptions, "and had included a complaint that the Supreme Council of the Media take the necessary measures in this regard.
The committee, chaired by Jamal Shawki, a member of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, will investigate the complaint next Sunday.
The media presenter Reham Said, the presenter of the show "Sabaya", was the subject of controversy and was the subject of serious attacks after talking about people making the Overweight (obesity).
During his program, Riham Said criticized obese people by saying, "People are dead traitors, a burden to their people and to the state, and they deform the landscape."
Reham Said's speech quickly sparked a wave of criticism via social media, making the list of the most blogged blogs on the tweets short website "Twitter" on Friday.
Some attacked Reham Said for talking about the issue without choosing appropriate terms, others pointed out that obesity is sometimes a disease.
