The United States is at the forefront of countries exporting arms to the Middle East and North Africa. In addition to being the largest arms exporter in the world, with a rate of 36%, the United States accounts for 48% of the proportion of arms exported to the region.
And it comes in second for the region’s arms exporters, Russia with 17%, then France in third place with 11%, then the United Kingdom in fourth place with 5% and finally Germany in fifth. place with 5%.

Importers
As for importers from 2015 to 2019, Saudi Arabia was the largest importer of arms with 29.5%, followed by Egypt in second position with 14.2%, Algeria with 10.4%, then the United Arab Emirates by 8.5%, then Iraq by 8.4%.

American arms accounted for the largest percentage of Moroccan purchases at 91%, Israel by 78%, Jordan by 73% and Lebanon by 73%.
In general, the study indicates that the United States was the main source of weapons for more than two-thirds of countries in the region, or 13 out of 19 countries.
Regional shipments accounted for between a third and more than half of global shipments to each of the five largest arms suppliers.
