After 43 Grand Slam titles and two decades of competition, the long-awaited historic moment by tennis fans coincided with Roger Federer and American Serena Williams.
Federer, who led Federer to the United States, led Serena in the 4-2, 4-3 mixed doubles match in Perth, Australia, in the Hopman Cup to end the 2-1 win.
Federer and Serena congratulated themselves after the match, before tennis surprised what the Hopman Cup team officials said on Twitter: "The most beautiful picture of Silvie of all time".
Federer also posted a photo on social media on the Internet with a comment saying "A memorable night".
"He's the best player of all time," said Serena, who has won 23 Grand Slam titles, stating: "He's a great player and I hope to get some advice from him at that time, later. "
Federer and Serena have won 171 titles in their career and spent 600 weeks on the male and female tennis throne.
You've all seen Serena's concentration and perseverance, and that's one of the things I like a lot, "Federer said after the match.
Switzerland won two games in two matches before Thursday's match against Greece, while the United States, at the bottom of the table, will face their British rival in the next showdown.
