The Arab world at the beginning of the 20th century contained nearly a million original Jews who predated the Arab-Islamic conquests of the Middle East, as they were original components of Arab societies, which greatly contributed to economic development, social and cultural.
The exhibition will come to give an overview of the achievements of Arab Jews and details of their lives and activities, before fanaticism made most of them emigrate to European countries and to America in particular, while their history remained an essential component of Arab and Eastern countries. culture.
Lang stressed that to ensure the full success of this great event, the Arab World Institute asked “a very large number of countries to lend it high quality works, documents and antiques”, considering that “it It goes without saying that Morocco is strongly present in this event on the history of the Jews. “We know how Moroccan Jewish culture is regarded as an authentic and unique culture which has been deeply imprinted in Moroccan culture and life.
In this context, Lang wished to underline “the Moroccan exception, which is characterized by the diversity of its cultural and intellectual affluents and highlights all the cultural and spiritual heritage of the country”. He said Morocco “is an exception. Various heirlooms, including Hebrew heritage, King Mohammed VI recently announced the establishment of a Jewish Heritage Museum in Fez.
The president of the Arab World Institute praised Morocco’s encouragement to numerous workshops to restore and preserve Jewish monuments and preserve their antiquities from temples, cemeteries and others, stressing that the distinguished measures taken by Morocco are, in in particular, to include the history of Moroccan Jews. culture in school curricula.

He added: “It is certain that the institute has been forced on several occasions to close its doors according to the requirements dictated by the health authorities, but at the same time we have made full use of the networks and the Internet, and we have been able to generalize our activities. on several occasions, including lectures, debates, meetings with writers, parties and all the events that characterize life, even at the Institute of the Arab World ”.
“We are constantly present on the Internet, and the feedback we receive from different countries and from France also shows that these artistic and cultural activities which are transmitted through the digital system have been very successful,” Lang said.
He underlined in his speech that the projects of the Institute of the Arab world are very numerous, declaring: “Initially, we await the end of this period to open to the public our exhibition of the beginning of the year devoted to the most famous . singers in the Arab world: Umm Kulthum, Fayrouz Warda and others. It will be a special event, as it will celebrate what these famous singers have brought to artistic life so far and how they have empowered women to lead their liberation struggle.
The director of the Arab World Institute has scheduled the opening of this exhibition in March or April, and declared that “the exhibition is ready and only awaiting the green light from the health authorities to open its doors to the public” .
Regarding the teaching of Arabic, which is one of the characteristics of the Institut du monde arabe, Lang, author of the book “The Arabic language is a treasure of France”, stressed that this teaching has been delivered with “great success for the benefit of young people as well as adults”.
He said: “We have not stopped teaching the Arabic language”, and expressed his satisfaction that the institute “is doing it by adopting modern methods”.
