Dr. Bashir Marzouk, expert astronomer at the Qatar Calendar House, said that the phenomenon of Saturn’s encounter with the sun is one of the important astronomical phenomena, as the people of the state of Qatar will be able to see and monitor Saturn. to the naked eye most of the night from Monday evening to sunrise Tuesday, in addition to The planet Saturn will appear brighter and larger than normal days, as it will be at a distance of 13.37 million km from the center from Earth, which is the closest point Saturn reaches to Earth during the year.
It should be noted that Saturn reaches the position of opposition to the sun once a year, knowing that it was in the position of facing the sun the last time on Tuesday, July 21 of last year, when it will perform at again on Sunday August 14, 2022 AD. .
He pointed out that residents of the State of Qatar can monitor and track the movement of the planet Saturn during this phenomenon throughout the night with the naked eye, as they will be able to see Saturn above the eastern horizon. after sunset tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m. local Doha time, and Saturn will continue its movement until it reaches its maximum height (the azimuth point) in the sky of the State of Qatar at 11:40 p.m. locality of Doha, then it will be at an altitude of 46 degrees above the southern horizon, and it will continue its movement towards the western horizon to set around sunrise on Tuesday.
