Riyadh (echo):

The Ministry of Health clarified that there are certain diseases that may require a delay in taking the Corona vaccine after consulting a doctor, and these are exceptions to the beneficiary’s exemption from taking Covid vaccines for reasons of safety and efficacy.

The ministry disclosed in the guide to exceptions to the Corona vaccine, which includes hypersensitivity or acute sensitivity to the vaccine after the first dose, or hypersensitivity to any of the known components of the vaccine.

These ingredients currently include “polyethylene glycol (PEG”) in Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, and “polysorbate” in AstraZeneca vaccine, and the potential for cross-sensitivity between “PEG” and “polysorbate” can be as high as 20%.

The guide also stated that anaphylaxis is an allergy that requires treatment with the drug “epinephrine” or hospitalization in a hospital, while acute allergy includes symptoms that occur within 4 hours of vaccination, such as “hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and shortness of breath.”

Exceptions also include cancer patients who are currently receiving intensive chemotherapy and immunorheumatic diseases and the like, who are currently receiving biologic immunosuppressive drugs, according to “Okaz.”
