Experts in the field of ICT hoped that the new iPhone or iPhone XI would have a 3D rear camera.
Huawei, the world's second-largest smartphone group, could adopt something similar, according to a report released by Bloomberg on Wednesday.
The report is based on increasing the production of Sony's next-generation camera sensors, while supporting 3D sensors from potential customers such as Apple, who are interested.
Sony already provides camera sensors to Apple, Google, Samsung and others, but this generation of 3D camera sensors will work with the front and rear cameras.
According to the Bloomberg report, many smartphone makers will adopt a similar 3D camera in 2019 and Sony will begin mass-producing by the end of the summer to meet the demand. The report quotes Satoshi Yoshihara, head of the sensor division at Sony, who also added that 3D activities were already operating profitably.
"The cameras have revolutionized phones and, based on what I've seen, I have the same expectations for 3D cameras," Yoshihara said. The speed varies depending on the fields, but we will definitely see the adoption of these cameras. "
Although Yoshihara has not specified any real customers, the report adds that Huawei plans to provide 3D cameras to its new phones.
