MADRID (Reuters) – Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is about to host the next meeting between River Plate and Boca Juniors in the final leg of the Libertadores Cup final, the Spanish media reported on Thursday.
The Spanish newspaper AS reported that the Spanish police had met with the government, officials of Real Madrid and representatives of the South American Football Confederation to discuss security guarantees sufficient to host the final of the century in the stronghold of the royal team.
The Spanish club, FIFA, the South American federation and the Spanish football federation should reach an agreement in the coming hours to organize the match in Madrid, pending the final approval of the Spanish government .
The Spanish newspaper announced that there was almost an agreement on the match at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on 9 December.
River Plate has played five times at Real, while Boca Juniors has played only two field matches that hosted the 1982 World Cup final and several Champions League final matches.
