On Sunday, several Arab countries witnessed the phenomenon of a solar eclipse, for the first time this year, decorated in many parts with a kind of ring of fire.
In Kuwait, the official news agency quoted astronomer Adel Al-Saadoun as saying that a partial solar eclipse occurred on Sunday morning in the country and in most Arab countries.
He explained that in Sudan, Yemen, southern Saudi Arabia and Oman, an annular eclipse was observed where the moon’s disk covered the sun, and a circular ring remained around the moon.
Al-Saadoun said the solar eclipse usually occurs when the earth, moon, and sun align in a single line, and is repeated two to five times a year during a total, partial, or annular eclipse. .
And the annular eclipses, the moon’s disk hides the sun except in certain aspects, so what is called the ring of fire appears, as for the total, the moon covers the sun, so the day turns into night during minutes, partial clouds in which the moon covers only part of the sun, according to al-Saadoun.
In Saudi Arabia, the emirate of the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region posted, via its Twitter account, photos of the eclipse it witnessed this morning, without specifying whether it was partial or annular.
A few hours earlier, Saudi astronomer Mulhim Hindi said, via his Twitter account, that the annular eclipse that is occurring in the south of the Kingdom, similar to the same thing happened during the time of the Prophet Muhammad, God bless him and grant him peace, in the tenth year of Hijra (this happened between 631 and 632 AD).
And the Saudi News Agency said that the worshipers of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet performed the eclipse prayer.
And from Egypt, local media reported that a partial solar eclipse appeared in the capital Cairo at 6:25 a.m. (4:25 GMT).
He stressed that this phenomenon is the first observed in his country and in several Arab and international countries this year.
In the United Arab Emirates, the Al Bayan newspaper said his country witnessed a partial solar eclipse that took about three hours.
In Qatar, local media reported that the country’s skyline witnessed a partial solar eclipse on Sunday morning.
In turn, the Oman News Agency confirmed that the sky over the Sultanate witnessed an annular eclipse in the morning.
In Lebanon, the phenomenon ended in the Akkar region in the north of the country, at 9:30 a.m. (6:30 a.m. GMT), according to the Anadolu agency.
The eclipse coincides with the first day of summer and the longest day of the year, and it is the first in light of the precautionary measures taken in the Arab region against the Corona virus.
