The Rolling Stones are named after a Martian rock

NASA's Mars Insight mission has decided to name one of the planet's rocks a rolling rock band.

The Rolling Stones are slightly smaller than a golf ball and would have risen a meter to the Insight landing on Mars in November.

NASA said that although the name is unofficial, it would appear on the maps of Mars.

In its first statement on the event, the group described this tribute as "a milestone in its long and rich history".
