The S Pen is coming to other devices in the future

Samsung has revealed that the S Pen will arrive on other devices in the future, according to a statement from the company.

It comes after Samsung revealed that its latest Galaxy S21 Ultra will be the first Galaxy S series phone to support its S Pen.

The S Pen has always been limited to Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones, as it ships with its flagship Galaxy Note phone, as well as some mid-range tablets, but that is no longer the case in 2021.

While the app is slightly different, it raises the question of what this means for the future of the S Pen, as Samsung is introducing the stylus as a separate accessory for the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The device has no place to store the pen internally like Galaxy Note phones, and you have to buy a separate case to secure it.

It’s also not the same S Pen you get with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and it doesn’t offer the same features, as there are no aerial actions and no control over Bluetooth.

Tae Moon Roh, Head of Samsung’s Mobile Division, said in the statement: We are committed to creating new mobile experiences that run smoothly and continuously to make consumers’ lives easier and better.

He added: We have made the bold decision to extend the stylus experience to the Galaxy S21 Ultra and plan to expand the stylus experience to other categories of devices in the future.

The term additional device categories is vague in itself, but given that the stylus is compatible with some Samsung smartphones and tablets, the next logical category of devices that can use the S Pen will be Samsung’s foldable devices.

Remember, this isn’t Samsung’s first suggestion that S Pen support can reach other devices, as Roh said last December: The company pays attention to aspects that people prefer Galaxy Note experience and is thrilled to add some of her favorite features to other devices in our group. Although not more precise.

Roh also hinted that the S Pen is coming to foldable devices, and in a question-and-answer session during August’s Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Z Fold 2 presentation, Roh left the door wide open to it. idea that the S Pen would make its way into foldable devices in the future.

Roh said: The S Pen has always been a favorite feature of the Galaxy Note, and we’re happy to hear that people want it so badly and even want it in foldable devices.

Later, after re-emphasizing the functionality of the Galaxy Z Fold 2, he added: We certainly continue to hear from our customers, so keep an eye out for what the future holds.
