A patient living in Britain may become the second person in history to have fully recovered from HIV.
The Daily Mail reported Tuesday that doctors had found a patient immunized against HIV with fungi.
The process of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation from the donor to the AIDS patient has altered the immune system and the patient's system to develop resistance to the disease.
The unidentified London patient was infected with HIV 15 years ago and decided to plant stem cells after being diagnosed with cancer in 2016.
Timothy Ray Brown, the first to have fully recovered from AIDS, contracted the virus in 1996. After 12 years, he underwent a stem cell transplant and the doctors found no trace of HIV in the blood after # 39; transaction.
