The “Themeal on Sunday” newspaper reported yesterday that hundreds of British women spend around 200 pounds (1,000 riyals) per month to buy vitamin-rich food additives, to survive infection with Covid-19.

Spanish researchers said they found strong evidence that inexpensive food additives containing vitamin D can be very helpful for human protection. Scientists from the University of Cantabria, in the Spanish region of Santander, followed 216 people with Covid-19, hospitalized in Vladisela, in northern Spain. And it became clear to them that 82% of them had vitamin D deficiency, while the percentage of those who were not deficient in this vitamin was 18%. This has been compared to 74% of people who are deficient in vitamin D and who have not been infected with the virus. 44 of the Covid-19 patients who were deficient in vitamin D were transferred to the intensive care room because their condition had deteriorated, and 37 of them were to be dependent on a ventilator. However, the levels of the mentioned vitamin in their blood were not lower than in the rest of the patient group, while other patients recovered without requiring careful care. Spanish scientists concluded by recommending that vitamin D be included in the treatment of patients with Covid-19. This, they said, would have positive results, despite the potential for negative side effects.

Scientists at the Spanish University of Cordoba studied 50 patients with Covid-19 last September, after receiving food additives containing vitamin D. Their cases were compared to 26 volunteer patients who did not receive the aforementioned vitamin. What have they discovered? It turned out that only one patient needed to be transferred to intensive care. None of the 50 patients died. While doctors were later forced to admit 13 of the 26 patients who had not received a vitamin into the intensive care unit, two of them died. And in September, scientists at the University of Chicago measured vitamin D levels in about 500 Americans. After that, those who contracted Covid-19 were monitored. And it turned out that 60% of those who got infected with the epidemic had low levels of the vitamin in their bodies. That same month, scientists at Boston University analyzed the blood of 235 patients with Covid-19. And it became clear to them that patients who did not suffer from vitamin D deficiency had an approximately 51.5% reduced risk of death. And in July 2020, scientists at Israel’s Tel Aviv University studied 782 people who tested positive for COVID-19. They concluded that people who suffered from vitamin deficiency before infection had a 45% chance of getting infected. The probability of being admitted to the hospital was 95%.

A study with the same purpose was carried out at Incheon University in South Korea last June on 50 patients hypnotized by Covid-19. All the vitamins in their blood were analyzed and compared to a group of healthy controls. And Korean scientists found that 76% of the 50 patients had severe vitamin D deficiency. A similar study was conducted the same month in Indonesia, where vitamin D level was measured in 780 patients hypnotized with Covid-19. And it turned out that 99% of the patients who died from the virus had severe vitamin D deficiency. Another study conducted in May 2020 at the University of Glasgow in Scotland came to the conclusion that vitamin D deficiency can lead to an increased risk of infection with Covid-19.
