The United States recorded in February the largest monthly budget deficit ever recorded by analysts. The Treasury announced that the US budget had a deficit of 233.9 billion dollars last month, against 215.2 billion dollars for the same period in 2018. Analysts had forecast a budget deficit of 228 billion dollars on last month.
Government spending reached $ 401.2 billion in February, compared with $ 370.8 billion for the same period last year.
Revenues rose to $ 167.2 billion last month from $ 155.6 billion for the same period in 2018.
In the first five months of the year, the US budget deficit reached $ 544.2 billion, up from $ 390 billion in the same period last year.
