Rescue teams recovered Woods from the wreckage of the overturned vehicle
US golfer Tiger Woods is undergoing surgery after sustaining “multiple leg injuries” in a car crash Tuesday in Los Angeles, California.
The Los Angeles Police Department said it had “responded to a report of a single rollover accident … severely damaged.”
Firefighters and paramedics helped pull Woods, the 15th Grand Prize winner of the golf tournament, from the wreckage.
“He is currently undergoing surgery and we thank you for your interest and support,” said Mark Steinberg, Woods agent.
Steinberg confirmed that the American golfer had “multiple leg injuries”.

Woods, 45, was at the Rivera Country Club Resort in Los Angeles this weekend, hosting the Genesis Invitational Golf.
The police department’s statement said it dealt with the car crash that occurred “at the borders of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes” Tuesday morning local time.
The statement added: “Woods was taken away after the wreckage of the car was cut … by firefighters and paramedics in Los Angeles, then an ambulance took him to a local hospital to treat his injury. “
The Los Angeles County Fire Department said, “Units were dispatched to the crash site at 7:22 pm and found a overturned car. An adult male was helped out of the car and taken to a local hospital in critical condition. “

Golfer Justin Thomas, world number three and one of Woods’ close friends, has expressed concern about his friend’s health.
“I’m very worried. It hurts to see someone, especially your closest friend, have an accident,” Thomas said.
He added, “I just hope he’s okay. I’m worried about his children. I’m sure they’re in pain.”
“We are awaiting more information when he comes out of surgery,” said PGA Secretary Jay Monahan.
He added, “On behalf of the League and the players, we call on Tiger, and he will have our full support as he recovers.”
It’s not the first time Woods has been in a car accident. In November 2009, he was in a car accident which ultimately led to his admission of infidelity and the breakdown of his marriage. He stopped playing golf but returned shortly thereafter.
After five wins in 2013, Woods only competed in 24 competitions over the next four years without participating due to chronic back pain and multiple surgeries.
In 2017, Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He subsequently pleaded guilty to the charge of reckless driving.
Tests at the time showed he had taken five medically prescribed medications while recovering from spinal surgery, and they gave him the opportunity to renew his golfing career.
And in 2019, Woods quickly ended an 11-year tournament by winning the Masters title.
Most recently, Woods said he hopes to play at this year’s Masters in April, after undergoing his fifth back surgery in January.
Woods finished sixth in the 2019 World Golf Rankings, but is now 50th.
