The hope of millions of patients coping with HIV has completely increased the disease, and researchers believe the treatment is imminent.

This virus usually hides hidden places in the body and can prevent it – this means that the patient can never be healed completely.

But according to the Daily Mail, researchers at the University of Illinois believe that targeting a gene to the inside of the brain can kick the virus out of its hiding place and make it vulnerable to immune attacks and drugs.

Charities praised the results as "promising" and said that medical advances over the last four decades meant that AIDS patients could lead normal lives without fear.

The ultimate goal of detecting HIV cure, which affects 37 million people around the world, is to eliminate the underlying viruses.
