With the 2021 Oscars set to take place, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled the lists of Oscar nominated films in nine categories on Wednesday February 10.
According to Variety, the shortlist vote for the estimated price ended on February 5, and the rest will continue until the first official phase of the vote, which takes place from March 5 to 9. The Oscar nominations will be announced on March 15, and the awards gala will take place on its 93rd, April 25.
The Tunisian film “The Man Who Sold His Back”, directed by Kawthar Ben Haneya, managed to take its place among the 15 films selected by the American Academy of Cinema Arts and Sciences to compete for the Oscar du best foreign language film.

The film chronicles the suffering of a Syrian immigrant since leaving his country to Lebanon in the hope of traveling from there to Europe, where his girlfriend lives, due to the loss of his freedom, his personality and of his beliefs.
He plays in the Syrian film Yahya Mahaini, the French Dia Lien, the Belgian Quinn di Bao and the Italian Monica Bellucci.
The film has participated in numerous film festivals and won numerous regional and international awards, including the Venice Film Festival and the Mediterranean Film Festival in Bastia, France.
The Tunisian film is in competition in the selection with films from Iran, France, Romania, Norway, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Russia, Côte d’Ivoire, Chile, Mexico, Guatemala, from the Czech Republic and Bosnia.
