Relief agencies have launched a campaign to vaccinate up to five million children under five years old against polio in Yemen. The campaign, which began Monday and will last three days, will be organized by the United Nations Fund for Children (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO). "The campaign comes at a very sensitive time," said Mirtexel Relano, UNICEF Representative in Yemen.

"The absence of a fully functioning health system and the spread of malnutrition have significantly reduced the risk of preventable diseases," she said. "It is very important that all parties to the conflict allow this essential vaccine to reach all children from north to south and from east to west without hindrance," she said.
Meanwhile, the International Organization for Migration said the UN is helping Ethiopian immigrants living in Yemen return home. The first group of 100 migrants has been repatriated and more than 300 are expected to be repatriated this week, the organization said.
