UAE calls for strengthening joint Arab action

The United Arab Emirates called for strengthening joint Arab action, intensifying efforts and joining efforts in public health, cohesion and epidemic prevention, highlighting the need to complete health coverage and ensure healthy and prosperous living conditions for all ages.

This came in the speech of His Excellency Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Community Protection during his presidency of the 51st Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health which was held today at the General Secretariat of the Arab League, with the participation of the Arab Ministers of Health or their representatives.

The delegation included HE Juma Mubarak Al-Junaibi, Ambassador of State in Egypt, Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, HE Hussein Abdulrahman Al-Rand, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Centers and Clinics, and Sub-Secretary Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Nasser Khalifa Al-Badoor Health at the Embassy of Cairo.

In his speech, His Excellency sent his heartfelt condolences to Egypt regarding the victims of the train accident that occurred yesterday, asking God to accept them from the righteous and to inspire patience and comfort to their people.

Therefore, HE said that the current session of the Council is taking place, as in the past, under the difficult and delicate conditions currently facing the Arab brother countries.

He added that, given these conditions, it is necessary to strengthen joint Arab action, intensify efforts and combine efforts to maintain public health and cohesion, prevent the spread of epidemics and put in place comprehensive health coverage and guarantee everyone a healthy and prosperous lifestyle, at any age.

He stressed that the world was today on the threshold of a new stage in the history of humanity, namely the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the technological advances involved in the process of development of many aspects of life and opening up vast prospects for global and sustainable development. Creative to follow the spirit of time and developments.

Therefore, he said that in order to cope with the rapid progress made by humanity, it was necessary to redouble efforts and mobilize common potentials in order to respond effectively to the latest advances in applied medical sciences such as biological agents. , artificial intelligence, genetic revolution and other topics on which we should well prepare ourselves and work. Change the patterns of learning, training and rehabilitation in our countries so that they reach the level of this development.

The session considered a number of important topics on its agenda, including the activities of the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health between the two regular sessions of the Council (No. 49) 2018 and No. 51 of February 2019, the Arab Council of Health Specialties and the successful and pioneering experiences of Arab Member States in the field of health.

The project also included the establishment of the Arab Center for Cooperation and Research on HIV / AIDS in Algeria, the Arab Center for Medical Research and Laboratory Research provided by Egypt and the improvement of the the health of mothers, children and adolescents in the Arab region and the memorandum of understanding between the Secretariat of the League of Arab States and the United Nations Regional Office on Drugs and Crime in the Middle East and North Africa.

It also addresses the support of member countries hosting Board meetings, committees, activities and specialized training courses in the health field, the Arab Fund for Health Development, as well as the date and venue of the meeting. the regular session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health.

The agenda included an update on the latest developments, which covered a number of important topics, including: Declaration of the fourth session of the Arab Summit on Economic and Social Development on the problem of displaced persons and refugees, support to the Republic of Yemen's reconstruction and development efforts and support to the Somali Republic in the implementation and exemption of the Debt Development Plan.
