Abu Dhabi’s national oil company “ADNOC” announced today, Wednesday, that it and “Total” are producing the first amount of unconventional gas in the UAE.
According to the Emirati company, the unconventional gas was produced from the unconventional Al-Dhiab gas concession located in Ruwais, 200 km west of the city of Abu Dhabi.
She said the unconventional gas is pumped through a dedicated pipeline and central facility to receive primary production in the Al-Diab gas basin.
Production comes just two years after ADNOC and Total signed a concession agreement in the unconventional gas sector.
In November 2018, ADNOC signed an agreement with Total, whereby the latter acquired a 40% stake in the unconventional Al-Dhiab gas concession in the Ruwais area.
