The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stressed the need to find innovative financing mechanisms to ensure water security and food security, commensurate with natural, economic and human potential, by ensuring the environmental sustainability of the Arab region.

He stressed that the reduction of water resources limited the region's capacity to produce more food, increased its dependence on grain imports and exposed to price fluctuations in world markets. , which required a new look and innovative mechanisms for development work and sustainable development in the water and agriculture sectors.
