And she said the delta mutant, which was first detected in India, has spread to 15 countries in the “Eastern Mediterranean Region” covered by the WHO Regional Office, and that the spread of the mutant delta version increases the rise of Covid-19 infections and deaths (caused by the virus) in increasing numbers in the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
In countries in the region, the organization has seen a monthly increase in the number of corona infections of 55% and a 15% increase in the number of deaths caused by the virus, bringing the weekly rate of new infections to 310,000 new infections and the weekly death rate at 3,500 deaths.
