A source close to the family, who preferred to remain anonymous, expected a “big battle” to break out over the sharing of his inheritance because he “did not leave a will”, in a statement after the death of the legend, who struggles to know the size of his fortune and whether he distributed it before his death.

In 2019, Maradona, during a dispute with his daughter Janina, who accused his “entourage” of not taking care of him, threatened to donate everything he owned, including investments, to the real estate, luxury cars and advertising contracts, among others.

But Argentine law stipulates that two-thirds of the inheritance must go to the children and the wife, that they cannot be deprived of them, and that a person can only give according to a will only one-fifth of his property.

But since that threatening message, Maradona and her daughter have reconciled, as evidenced by emotional messages posted on social media by Janina and her sister Dalma on their father’s 60th birthday on October 30.

Janina and Dalma, whom Maradona had from his ex-wife Claudia Viavenni, were for many years the only two daughters recognized by legend, but they had to face the emotional and capricious life of their father.

Maradona met his ex-wife Claudia when she was fifteen, and she was his first girlfriend and only wife before their divorce in 2003.

A few months before the birth of her daughter Dalma, her son, “Diego Junior”, was born to another woman, but it took 29 years for Maradona to admit that he had a son by Italian Cristina Sinagra.

Due to his infection with the novel Corona virus, his son Diego Junior was unable to travel from Italy to attend his father’s funeral in Argentina.

In 2008, Maradona also admitted his daughter Jana, born in 1996 to his relationship with Valeria Sabalen, who was closest to him in his final months.

According to his lawyer, Maradona also had at least three children in Cuba, but he did not recognize them.
