UEFA has officially announced on its website that Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos was charged with a yellow card during his team's match against Ajax Amsterdam.
The European Union noted that the Ethics Committee had directed Mr Ramos to issue a yellow card against Ajax in accordance with Article 55 of the disciplinary procedure, and that the final decision of the Commission would be taken at the next meeting of the February 28th.
Ramos made a statement to the press after beating Ajax at 16-1 with a 2-1 goal, confirming that he had deliberately obtained a yellow card, before the player denies it in D & D Other press releases. UEFA has therefore opened an investigation into its comments.
In principle, Ramos will miss Santiago Bernabeu's return to Ajax on March 5th. If UEFA decides to punish the player, he will miss the quarterfinals in qualifying.
