Las Vegas police issued Cristiano Ronaldo's DNA analysis order to associate him with a woman accused of raping her, a newspaper reported Thursday.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the police had recently ordered an Italian court.
The 33-year-old is now playing for Juventus.
"We can confirm that an official request has been made to the Italian authorities," the police told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.
Katherine Mayorga, 34, says the Portuguese player raped her at a Las Vegas hotel in 2009.
His lawyer, Leslie Stoffal, is currently suing a civil court in Las Vegas.
Ronaldo denied the allegation. His lawyer, Peter Christiansen, said his client insisted that the relationship was with the other party's consent and not with rape.
