US researchers announce first birth in frozen testicular tissue

As part of a promising medical breakthrough that would solve many fertility problems, US researchers have announced the birth of the first monkey on frozen testis tissue.
According to the "Scientific American" website, this technique will help young children who undergo chemotherapy for cancer and fear that their fertility will be affected in the future.

The study, conducted by researchers from the University of Oregon for Science and Health, was based on a sample of five primrose monkeys at the beginning of their lives and the animals did not. were not able to produce sperm at this time.

Testicular tissues were removed from the monkeys until the animals could no longer reproduce, then reached again after puberty and, after 8 to 12 months, surprising results appeared.

When the researchers took testicular tissue from monkeys, they discovered that they were able to produce semen and found that the tissue could vaccinate 138 eggs.

After the vaccination of so many oocytes, a pregnancy was obtained and the monkey was born in good health.

Adolescent girls who have reached puberty can save sperm by freezing, while young women can keep the eggs in the laboratory until the end of treatment.

But children treated for cancer before puberty can not keep sperm or eggs.

In adulthood, hormonal changes occur in the body and testosterone, a male hormone, increases. Stem cells are stimulated in the testes to produce sperm.
As cancer chemotherapy damaged these stem cells, the researchers sought to solve the problem by freezing the testicular tissue.
