Al-Marsad Diary: England goalkeeper Tom King entered the Guinness Book of Records after scoring a goal from a goal kick in his team’s Newport County game against Cheltenham Town last Tuesday in the fourth English division.

The result was a goalless draw in the 12th minute, when King executed a goal kick, with a powerful and long shot, and the ball hit the ground before the Cheltenham Town penalty area, going around his goalkeeper and heading towards his net, according to Russia Today.

“Sky Sports” reported that the Guinness Book of Records confirmed on Thursday that King’s shot was the longest shot (96.01 meters), resulting in a goal ever recorded in a football match.

She pointed out that King broke the previous record held by former Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Bergovic, who scored a goal from a distance of 91.9 meters against Southampton in 2013.
