Al-Marsad Journal – Agencies: The stocks of major tech companies in the United States suffered heavy losses, as the market value of those companies fell by billions of dollars after the sudden malfunction of “Facebook” and other apps.

Facebook was the biggest loser, according to a Bloomberg report, with the stock closing yesterday down 4.89% to $ 323.23, and the stock posting the biggest drop in nearly a year.

The drop came after a sudden malfunction affecting “Facebook”, “WhatsApp” and “Instagram” services, when more than a billion users worldwide were unable to access their accounts.

The losses also affected other technology and Internet companies, such as Alphabet (Google) fell 2.11%, the US giant “Apple” by 2.46% and “Amazon” by 2.85%, while Microsoft lost 2.1%.

In light of this, the “Wall Street” stock market closed sharply lower yesterday as investors sold shares of giant technology companies, and the “Nasdaq Composite” index fell 2.14% to 14,255. 49 points.
