We are currently testing up to 50 people in Skype hangouts.

The maximum number of people that can be with you in a Skype video chat is currently 25, but Microsoft plans to double that number. The company is currently trying to increase the number of Skype video subscribers from 25 to 50 people. Please note that this change is only available in the Skype trial application.

The Skype app will create audio and video buttons for large groups, allowing participants to easily turn on and off their webcam and turn off their microphone. This change will be well accepted by small businesses who regularly use the Skype app for their meetings.

The Microsoft test includes sending notifications to participants who will participate in the large group video chat instead of ringing Skype to all members. It will also be possible to contact people from the beginning of the conversation if they do not respond to the initial notice as soon as possible.

This new feature is currently only available in the evaluation version of Skype. It may take some time before this feature goes into beta mode to reach all Skype users. Microsoft has not yet told us exactly when the new maximum number of participants in a video call will be available to all users.
