On Friday, the Chinese space probe “Tiaonwin-1” sent its first image of the planet Mars towards which it was heading, according to the Chinese space agency.

The probe is expected to reach around Mars on February 10, after launching from China in late July.

The first image from the Red Planet probe showed a gathering of gas and what looked like craters. The image was taken in black and white about 2.2 million km from Mars, according to the Chinese Space Agency.

The image shows Vallis Marineris (canyons near the equator of the Red Planet), Schiaparelli (large crater) and the plain of Acidalia Planetia.

Tiaonwin-1 consists of three sections: An orbiting surveillance probe The red planet A landing craft, as well as a wheeled robot, will analyze Martian soil.

The robot located in Investigation On the planet in May, it weighs over 200 kilograms, is equipped with four solar panels, and is supposed to operate for three months.

The robot’s tasks include performing soil and atmospheric analyzes, taking photos and helping to map the red planet.

China hopes that in this first independent attempt to explore Mars, almost everything the United States has accomplished in several years of Mars missions since the 1960s, namely putting a probe into orbit, launching landing craft, then the exit of a pilot robot.

The mission was named “Taeunwen-1” (Questions to heaven-1), after an ancient Chinese poem dealing with astronomy.
