NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Consuming large amounts of green leafy vegetables can help reduce fat accumulation in the liver, according to a new study.
The study conducted by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden found that the abundant consumption of inorganic nitrates, found naturally in many vegetables, especially paper, reduces the accumulation of fat in the liver.
"When we included the nitrate component in the diet of rats fed diets high in fats and sugars, we found less fat accumulation in the liver," said Dr. Matias Karstrom, a professor at the University of Toronto. 39, Karolinska Institute.
