WhatsApp banned on millions of phones forever after a month

The latest reports have revealed that WhatsApp will stop supporting many smartphones soon, which means the app will stop working on those devices altogether.

The popular messaging app is expected to start removing support for older iPhone and Android phones for good, starting in November, when affected users will either need to update their software or purchase a new phone.

And if the device is too old to update, the user will have to get a new phone anyway.

More than 40 different smartphone models are expected to be affected. And set the deadline for the update to November 1, after which WhatsApp will stop working permanently.

For Android users, they will need to be running Android 4.1 or later. This means that a slew of popular phones will lose access to WhatsApp, including the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Huawei Ascend Mate.

As for “iPhone” users, they must have iOS 10 or later operating system, so “iPhone 4” or earlier users will lose access to the app.

And if you have never updated your iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE, you will lose access until you update the device as they launch with iOS 9.

All three devices can be updated to iOS 15, the latest version of Apple’s operating system, and still access WhatsApp.

Tech companies regularly stop supporting older devices, as Google did with older Android phones and turned off Gmail, YouTube, and Google Maps.

Sometimes this is due to the inefficiency of running apps on very old versions of iOS or Android.

This is especially the case if only a small percentage of users are running these older versions of software.

Using outdated software can also pose major security risks, so you should update if you can’t get a new phone.
