This month, WhatsApp is working on a new feature that allows messages to disappear after a specified period of time.

The new feature will allow users of the app to choose to hide messages in conversations, to be automatically deleted after seven days, according to a statement issued by the app.

The new tool will give the user the ability to perform the service in one-on-one correspondence, while groups will have the option in the hands of their officials to hide messages in group conversations.

And according to a spokesperson for the app, “We start with seven days because we believe it provides peace of mind because conversations aren’t permanent, while (the functionality) is still handy so you don’t forget something. you were talking.”

According to the statement, the new functionality will not affect messages sent or received earlier in conversations.

And WhatsApp notes that forwarded messages will not disappear in new chats, even if they are meant to disappear in the original conversation.

Although the option to hide messages has been added, the user can still take screenshots or copy them to other files.

Regarding images intended to disappear, they will disappear from the conversation, but they will remain in the image file on the phone if they are stored at reception.
