The “WhatsApp” platform said the service may need around 24 hours to return to work normally, with the continued disruption of services from the “Facebook” company that owns the app.

In a tweet, Al Arabiya reported that there were requests to clarify the causes of the dysfunction, which affected thousands of people around the world and crippled the most important social media sites.

For his part, Mike Schroeber, CTO at Facebook, apologized again for the delay in returning service to normal.

And he said in a tweet to his account on the Twitter platform: “I offer my sincere apologies to all those affected by the shutdown of Facebook services at this time.”

He explained that the company is facing network issues, noting that technical teams are working as quickly as possible to resolve the crisis and restore service.
