Prince William has defended the British royal family against accusations of racism brought by his brother Prince Harry and his brother-in-law Meghan, saying members of the royal family “are not racist”.
In comments he made on Thursday during a visit to a school in east London, William became the first member of the royal family to respond directly to the fiery interview his brother and the Duchess of Sussex had had with Oprah Winfrey, which aired Sunday in the United States.

Buckingham Palace sought to respond to Harry and Meghan’s allegations of racism and abuse in a 61-word statement, but failed to quell the controversy.
William, second to the throne after his father, Prince Charles, said he had yet to speak to Harry after the interview. He assured: “But I will.”
Harry and Meghan’s comments rocked the royal family – and sparked debate around the world over racism, mental health and even Britain’s relationship with its former colonies.
These tensions only intensified as the public waited to see how the royal family reacted to the allegations.
Bisexual, Megan said in the interview that she was so isolated and miserable as an active member of the royal family that she even had thoughts of suicide.
She also added that Harry told her there were “concerns and conversations” by a member of the royal family about her baby’s skin tone when she was pregnant with their son Archie.
