With the participation of 16 Arab countries, the Egyptian Minister of Sports inaugurates the first Arab championship of electronic games

Ashraf Subhi, Minister of Youth and Sports of the Arab Republic of Egypt and Head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports, inaugurated the first Arab Internet eSports Championship with the participation of players from 16 Arab countries: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Mauritania, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, Yemen, Bahrain and Sultanate Amman.

The tournament is organized in cooperation with the League of Arab States and the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports. The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports was responsible for organizing the tournament under the technical supervision of the Arab Electronic Sports Federation and the logistical supervision of the Egyptian Gaming Federation.

The virtual opening ceremony was held using Zoom visual communication technology included the speech by Dr Ashraf Sobhi, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, who thanked the Arab League represented by Secretary General Ahmed Abul- Gheit, the Deputy Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports and the Director of Youth and Sports Administration of the League of Arab States, appreciating the efforts and cooperation The Arab Federation of Electronic Sports and welcomed the wide participation of youth from 16 Arab countries, which reflects the wide spread of e-sport among young people in various Arab countries, then the Egyptian Minister officially announced the opening of the championship and the start of competitions and wished success to all participants.

For his part, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the Arab Electronic Sports Federation, thanked the participants, organizers, tournament owners, strategic partners and sponsors for their efforts and contributions to the success of the tournament, stressing that eSports have made a great leap forward in the Arab world in recent years.This is why the Arab Federation of Electronic Sports has initiated its duties of management of the electronic sports system in the Arab world as part of the will to Maximize the positives and publish electronic games thoughtfully while avoiding the negatives by forming specialized and professional committees to organize competitions and establish regulations and laws governing electronic games in the Arab world. The Arab Electronic Sports Federation will provide all technical support for the success of the tournament and all Arab electronic games programs and activities.

For his part, Abdel Moneim Al-Shairi, Director of the Department of Youth and Sports of the League of Arab States, conveyed the greetings of the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, stressing the concern of the Department of Youth and sports and the Technical Secretariat of the Arab Youth Council and Sports Ministers to pay attention to electronic sports and encourage Arab youth to play electronic games.

Sherif Abdel-Baqi, President of the Egyptian Electronic Sports Federation, delivered a speech in which he praised the response of the League of Arab States and the Youth and Sports Administration in supporting Arab electronic sports due of their many benefits for Arab youth and their aspirations to keep pace with technological development through electronic games.

The organizing committee of the tournament was formed under the chairmanship of Dr Amr Al-Haddad, Deputy Minister of Sports in Egypt and his Deputy Hisham El-Taher, General Secretary of the Arab Electronic Sports Federation, Sherif Abdel-Baqi, President of the Egyptian Federation of Electronic Games as CEO of the tournament, Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz, Director of Sports Federations for Specific Games, Chairman of the Financial Affairs Committee, Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz, Director of Sports Federations for Specific Games And Omar Khaled’s technical affairs.

Three games have been approved namely FIFA 21, Fortnite and League of Legend
