The World Health Organization (WHO) has condemned the targeting of health facilities during the military campaign in northwestern Syria.

Seven health facilities were targeted in Idlib between August 28 and August 30, the organization said in a report released on Monday, Sept. 2, indicating that it had checked four attacks and checked three.

According to the report, targeted health facilities include four hospitals and two primary health care centers, while a health care center was evacuated prior to a military attack during this period.

On August 28, the team of Syrian intervention coordinators documented that the Maysir al Hamdo hospital, located in the city of Al Ghudfa, in southern Idlib countryside , had been bombarded by the regime's warplanes, causing property damage and injuries to the hospital guards.

The Syrian Civil Defense announced late last month that the Al-Iman Specialist Hospital in the western Aleppo countryside had been closed due to raids on the hospital.

He said: "Syrian Civil Defense", knowing officially that a number of wounded have been killed by air strikes that have targeted the hospital in Orm al-Kubra, to the west of Aleppo, attaching photos of infants inside.

The World Health Organization (WHO) today said the attacks took place at a time when hostilities were increasing in and around Idlib province, noting that the humanitarian needs in Syria had increased dramatically.

The WHO estimates that 13.7 million people need health care in Syria, including more than four million in the north-west.

He also expressed concern over the displacement of more than 130,000 people from the northern Hama countryside and the southern Idlib countryside, only in the month of August.

Russia faces international accusations of bombing hospitals and medical centers during the recent military campaign against Idlib in northwestern Syria.

Two-thirds of the members of the Security Council have called on United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to open an international investigation into the targeting of hospitals in Idlib by the Syrian and Russian regimes, in a statement released in early August.
