A source from the Egyptian Football Association has revealed the reasons for the federation’s refusal to cancel the Egyptian We League championship, pointing out that September 30 is the end date for the current version of the tournament.

The tripartite commission that manages the Egyptian Football Association, headed by Ahmed Mujahid, held a meeting with Egyptian clubs today, Wednesday, to discuss the federation’s vision to relieve match pressure on clubs in order to avoid extending the current season beyond next September.

A source from the Football Association said in exclusive statements to Lilacora that the reason for the federation’s refusal to cancel the Premier League championship is that national teams are not affected in the event of cancellation.

The source, who declined to be named, added that in order not to increase the number of league clubs next season, especially since most clubs have rejected the idea of ​​applying relegation to the last 3 positions.

He stressed that the federation had rejected the idea of ​​canceling the current season of the league championship, in order to preserve the players’ contracts with the clubs.

The source said Al-Ittihad agreed with the clubs to end the league’s current season on September 30.
