The Washington Capitals struggled to face the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, but two goals in the bypass, a Jakub Vrana breakaway and Braven Holtby's Herculean effort were enough to score goals.

The Flyers, who had seven points on the last Eastern Conference wild stand, played desperately, scoring 36 shots on goal and 61-of-five attempts. Philadelphia needed not only to win Sunday, but the rest of its games this season to potentially qualify for the playoffs.
Instead, the Capitals won, essentially eliminating the Flyers from the dance. The Capitals swept their series of the season against the Flyers 4-0 and beat them three times in March.
Wilson seemed to love this fact.
