Saved by the Bell is renewed for a second season on NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service

Students will return for another semester at their beloved Bayside High.

And NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock has confirmed that a second season is in the works for Saved by the Bell, according to Variety.

The reboot of the classic ’90s teen sitcom is the # 1 show on Peacock and also holds the title of the new network’s first original series to be renewed.

Created by Tracey Wigfield, the show follows a diverse group of teens growing up in affluent high school.

The new show stars Mitchell Hoog, Belmont Cameli, Josie Totah, Haskiri Velazquez, Alycia Pascual-Peña’s, Dexter Darden and John Michael Higgins.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s character, Zack Morris, is now Governor of California and has closed a number of low-income schools, forcing Bayside High to welcome students from working-class families.

Dustin Diamond, aka Screech, and Dennis Haskins, who played lead Belding, were the only two lead characters who didn’t return in the reboot.

“I am delighted that Saved by the Bell has been renewed,” Wigfield said in a statement. “ I was blown away by all the love for the show and can’t wait to go back and do more episodes.

“ Hopefully we’ll stay on Peacock for a lot of seasons and then in 30 years someone will restart our reboot and invent the threeboot. ”
