Saved by the Bell Star Dustin Diamond, who played Screech in the popular teen series, was hospitalized with stage 4 cancer. A representative for the actor confirmed the diagnosis to Rolling stone, adding that Diamond checked into a hospital this week after feeling unwell. The type of cancer the actor is facing has not been revealed.

According to Weekly entertainment, Diamond is undergoing treatment at a Florida hospital. “He is undergoing chemotherapy so he will be there for at least another week and then we will determine when he can go home,” his representative said. THAT ONE, adding that the actor will issue a statement once he finds out more. “By next week we will have a much better understanding of the severity of his condition and the treatments he will need to be comfortable. The representative said the actor also recently suffered from shingles, “so he suffered a lot.”

Diamond, who starred in the series Saved by the Bell from 1989 to 1993, reprized his role of Screech in the two spinoffs of the franchise: Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Saved by the bell: the new class. He’s not a part of the series’ recent revival by The Peacock, which features some of his former cast mates.
