Actor Dustin Diamond has been diagnosed with cancer. His team shared the news on Thursday, just days after the Saved by the Bell star was hospitalized for a “serious” but unknown reason.
“At this time, we can confirm that Dustin has cancer,” read a post on Diamond’s official Facebook account. “Dustin will release more information once it becomes available and a plan for moving forward is developed.”

Diamond, best known for playing corny Screech Powers, was hospitalized this weekend in Florida. His representatives told Yahoo Entertainment on Wednesday that the 44-year-old actor remained there while medics carried out a battery of tests.

Team Diamond tells Weekly entertainment the actor was diagnosed with stage four cancer. As for the type of cancer, they said the actor will issue a statement when a formal diagnosis has been made. They called the diagnosis “serious” and said he had started chemotherapy.
